Environmental Sustainability

Protecting the Environment

We are committed to environmental sustainability – protecting the water resources, land, culturally important areas, air, and critical wildlife habitat that we impact with our activities.

At CTI Plus, we take our commitment to the environment seriously. CTI Plus commits to developing an environmental management plan (EMP) to address the potential impacts of our operations on water, waste, biodiversity, climate change, greenhouse gases, and wildlife.

How we implement and maintain our high environmental standards

Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)

Planning

Water Quality
We conduct comprehensive water tests to establish baseline water quality levels before any project begins, to help us understand the existing conditions and predict potential impacts.

Biodiversity Studies
We perform detailed studies on rare plant and animal species that may be affected by our operations. This includes mapping critical habitats and assessing the presence of endangered species.

Climate Change & GHG Emissions
We evaluate our project’s carbon footprint and identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the outset. This includes considering renewable energy sources and implementing energy-efficient technologies.

Waste Management
We develop a waste management plan that outlines how different types of waste will be handled, reduced, and disposed of responsibly.

During Operations

Implementation

Continuous Monitoring & Testing
We conduct regular water quality, wildlife & habit, and emissions monitoring during mining operations, to ensure we are upholding both environmental regulations and our internal standards.

Environmental Consultants
We work with accredited environmental consultants to perform regular audits and assessments. They provide expert advice on best practices and help us stay ahead of environmental challenges.

Mitigation Measures
We implement measures to control erosion (soil degradation and sediment runoff into water bodies), carry out rehabilitation plans (restoring the area to its natural state), and minimize waste through recycling programs and reducing single-use materials.

Throughout the project lifecycle and beyond

Maintenance & Improvement

Regular Environmental Audits
We conduct internal and external audits to evaluate the effectiveness of our EMP and identify areas for improvement.

Indigenous Nations and Stakeholders Engagement:
We maintain open communication with Indigenous Nations, local communities, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure that their concerns and suggestions are integrated into our environmental management practices.

Continuous Improvement:
Our Environmental Management Plan is a living document, continuously updated based on new research, technological advancements, and feedback from our stakeholders.

Indigenous Knowledge

The incorporation of Indigenous traditional knowledge in all phases of the mining life cycle is critical to the Rocky Creek project.

By incorporating Indigenous traditional knowledge at every stage of the Rocky Creek project, we not only enhance our environmental and cultural stewardship but also build lasting, respectful relationships with Indigenous Nations.

This holistic approach ensures that the project benefits both the environment and the people who have lived on and cared for the land for generations.

By implementing these steps and maintaining rigorous standards, CTI Plus ensures that our environmental management plan is not just a commitment but a practiced and continually improving process.
